Kendrick Lamar Drops Surprise Album 'GNX'

Kendrick Lamar is back with a bang, dropping his sixth studio album, GNX, just months after Lamar's highly publicized RAP anihilation of Drake, marking a triumphant return for the Compton rapper.

GNX follows Kendrick's 2022 album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers—his final release under Top Dawg Entertainment—and is his first project under his own label and multimedia company, pgLang. The 12-track album comes with a cinematic, one-minute teaser showing Kendrick floating through space, surrounded by retro car models, setting the tone for the project's futuristic vibe.

The album features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including SZA on the track “Luther” and a powerhouse roster of producers like Mustard, Rascal, DJ Dahi, and Jack Antonoff, among others. Fans who thought Kendrick’s diss tracks earlier this year—like “Euphoria,” “Meet the Grahams,” and the chart-topping “Not Like Us”—would be his only music for 2024 will be pleasantly surprised by GNX’s full-length offering.

This project also signals a shift for Lamar as he steps further into the GNX era. It comes at a time when the rapper is riding high on his success, especially after being nominated for seven 2025 Grammy Awards. Among the nominations are major categories like Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance for his hit “Not Like Us.”

But Kendrick isn't stopping there—on February 9, 2025, he will perform at Super Bowl LIX’s halftime show in New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome. The announcement was made in September, two years after Kendrick joined forces with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and guest performers 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak for the legendary Super Bowl LVI halftime performance.

"My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I will be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up? I hope so," Kendrick shared excitedly. "You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship—no round twos."

With GNX, Lamar not only shows he's still at the top of his game but also signals the start of a new chapter, both musically and in his career. Fans and critics alike will be watching closely as the album continues to unfold.
