Meet Shadonis: Creator, Astrologer and Producer

Writer's picture: SaharSahar

In a recent interview, we sat down with Shadonis—a multifaceted Creator, Astrologer, and Producer—whose passion for the cosmos transcends traditional stargazing. From the moment she first peered through a telescope, Shadonis recognized the stars not just as distant lights, but as a language waiting to be decoded.

As a 10H Virgo Sun, her journey has been one of meticulous study and creative expression, blending astrology with visual arts, jewelry design, and global travels in Astrocartography. For Shadonis, astrology is more than an ancient mystic practice; it’s an art form, a technology, and an energy source.

Through her work, she aims to demystify this celestial science and guide others toward their natural alignment with the universe.

Your journey into astrology is inspiring. Can you share with us how you first became interested in astrology and what sparked that initial connection?

My connection to astrology began as a super curious child always looking up at the stars. I wondered about the vastness of all of what's up there. I even got my very first telescope when I was 7. It was also never shunned to be curious about such things as I grew up in New Orleans around very spiritual family members. I remember being drawn to astrology books, forums, and websites as a teenager, trying to understand myself and my loved ones through our signs. Over time, it became a tool for self-awareness and empowerment, and eventually, I saw its potential for helping others.

Growing up, did you have any particular experiences, mentors, or cultural influences that shaped your view of astrology or sparked your curiosity about the stars?

Growing up in a culturally rich environment, I often heard stories that intertwined spiritual wisdom and influence. While I didn’t have a “formal” mentor, I was inspired by the ways astrology tied into themes of destiny and identity.

Many people enjoy astrology casually, but you’ve turned it into a profession. How did you transition from studying astrology as a personal interest to becoming a practicing astrologer?

Honestly by demand! It’s always been a language for me and still is. The transition came naturally as I started sharing insights with friends and family and saw how deeply it resonated. Over time, I began formal studies, particularly in astrocartography, to deepen my knowledge. As my understanding grew, so did my audience, and eventually people didn’t take no for an answer. Over time it helped me honor my calling and step into it professionally.

Astrology has long been a tool for self-reflection. In your practice, how do you see astrology helping people discover or understand their deeper selves? Can you share a moment where astrology played a transformative role in your own life?

Astrology offers a language for understanding ourselves on a soul level. It can validate our experiences, illuminate our strengths, and guide us through challenges. A transformative moment for me was discovering my astrocartography chart. It gave me clarity on why certain places felt more aligned with my purpose and empowered me to make bold moves like relocating cross country or changing my profession completely. It was always about alignment for me and I always stick with what resonates.

Astrocartography has gained a lot of attention in recent years. For those unfamiliar with it, can you explain what it is and how it works? How has astrocartography influenced your personal or professional life?

Astrocartography maps out how planetary energies align with specific locations on Earth based on your birth chart. It’s like a guide to finding places that resonate with your goals, whether it’s career, relationships, or personal growth. It’s deeply influenced my life, helping me align my travels and business ventures with places that support my journey. I even got my jewelry line in store being aware of my personal Astrocartography in Chicago.

As a Black astrologer, do you feel that your identity and cultural background play a role in how you interpret or practice astrology? What unique perspective do you think you bring to the astrology community?

My identity shapes how I approach astrology with a focus on empowerment and inclusivity. I strive to make this space accessible to those who may feel underrepresented, especially people of color. My experiences bring depth, intuition, and a fresh perspective to traditional interpretations.

Many of your clients seek astrology readings for spiritual guidance. How do you incorporate elements of spirituality or ancestral wisdom into your astrology practice?

I approach astrology as a bridge between the stars and our ancestral roots. “As above so below” I often weave in spiritual practices like intention setting or connecting clients to their lineage knowing how so many come from different spiritual backgrounds. I’m a 9th houser, so I’ll always have deep respect for all spiritual practices. It’s always about creating an experience that honors their past while guiding them toward their future.

As a Black woman in the field, have you faced any challenges or misconceptions about astrology, or about your identity as an astrologer? How have you navigated these hurdles?

Being a Black woman in astrology can come with stereotypes or the pressure to prove its validity in certain spaces. I navigate these challenges by staying authentic to my voice and letting my work speak for itself. Representation matters, and I see myself as part of a larger movement to shift the narrative.

We understand you've also created a jewelry business that’s inspired by astrology. Can you tell us more about how that venture came to be? What role does jewelry play in your approach to astrology and metaphysics, and how do the pieces you create reflect that?

My jewelry line was born from a desire to make astrology tangible. Each piece is a blend of the knowledge of sigils, energy, and personal meaning, designed to help wearers feel connected to their chart. It’s an extension of my passion for making astrology accessible and also beautiful.

When it comes to creating astrology-inspired jewelry, what kind of symbolism or significance do you aim to infuse into each piece? Can you share the meaning behind some of your most popular designs?

Every piece carries intentional symbolism—planetary glyphs, zodiac motifs, or other known symbols like the evil eye. One of my most popular designs is a Venus-inspired necklace that represents love harmony and the womb. It originates from the ankh symbol representing creation and life.

Astrology and jewelry are both deeply personal, artistic forms of expression. How do you balance the art of crafting jewelry with the intuitive, cosmic elements of astrology? Is there a particular piece that holds a special significance for you?

For me, crafting jewelry feels like translating the language of astrology into wearable art. All of them are my favorites and come from my heart.

What advice would you give to people of color, especially Black women, who are interested in studying astrology as both a spiritual practice and a career path? What should they keep in mind as they develop their own voice in this space?

My advice is to trust your intuition and claim your space boldly. Astrology is for everyone, and your unique perspective will resonate with those who need it most. Build your foundation, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to infuse your cultural heritage into your practice.

What’s next for you? Are there any exciting projects, collaborations, or personal milestones that you're working towards in the coming year?

This year, I’m excited about expanding my jewelry line, launching new courses on astrocartography, and possibly diving into film projects explaining astrology in ways never done before. I also have plans for international workshops and collaborations to inspire even more people to explore their charts and their world.

Shadonis

As someone who’s deeply connected to astrology, do you see it as a tool for healing in today’s world? In what ways do you think astrology can help people navigate current global or personal challenges?

Astrology offers perspective and hope in uncertain times. It helps people understand their cycles, align with their purpose, and navigate challenges with more clarity. It’s a tool for healing and empowerment, reminding us that we’re all part of something bigger.

With astrology continuing to grow in popularity, where do you see the future of the practice heading? What changes or new directions do you think the astrology community will take in the coming years?

I see astrology becoming even more integrated into wellness and lifestyle spaces. There’s potential for deeper research, technology integration, and more accessible tools for people to explore their charts. The future of astrology is diverse, inclusive, and expansive. My hope is for the over-mysticism of it all to be erased and for everyone to finally see it for the tool it always was.
