Maimouna Youssef, nativo de Baltimore, es de ascendencia choctaw, afroamericana y musulmana, y naciĂ³ en una familia de artistas excepcionales profundamente arraigados en la curaciĂ³n, la espiritualidad y el activismo. ComenzĂ³ a cantar canciones tradicionales indĂgenas y africanas a los cuatro años y comenzĂ³ su carrera musical a los 16. Maimouna Youssef, alias Mumu Fresh, es una cantante, maestra de ceremonias, compositora, activista, mentora y facilitadora de talleres nominada al Grammy que estĂ¡ haciendo olas en la escena musical independiente internacional que evoluciona a partir de la trayectoria musical histĂ³rica de Miriam Makeba y Nina Simone.
El estilo musical resultante que abarca todos los gĂ©neros es uno que combina a la perfecciĂ³n sus diversas influencias con letras infundidas espiritualmente, a menudo socialmente conscientes.
